Salary: $17.64 - $22.05 Hourly

Nature of Work, Essential Functions & KSA's


Under the direction of the Recreation Program Superintendent, this position will coordinate year-round camps, special events and sports within the Recreation Department.

Availability of work may be weather dependent. As such, applicants must be able to work varying hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays.


  1. Assist with developing a camp curriculum with level-appropriate leisure and recreational activities.
  2. Assists with planning daily camp activities and creating activity schedules.
  3. Presenting camp information to prospective clients, when required.
  4. Hiring camp employees, including activity specialists, recreation leaders, and camp counselors.
  5. Overseeing camp employees, accommodations, and meals, as well as ensuring the wellbeing of campers.
  6. Assists with managing the allocated budget, as well as ordering camp equipment and supplies.
  7. Modifying activities for campers with special needs.
  8. Ensuring safe practices and a healthy camp environment.
  9. Keeping records and documenting processes


  • Demonstrable experience as a camp director managing similarly structured camps.
  • Experience in planning and developing camp curricula, as well as modifying activities when required.
  • Advanced ability to hire, train, and oversee camp employees, as well as ensuring the campers' wellbeing.
  • Extensive experience in working with children, as well as arranging camp accommodations, meals, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ability to manage budgets and monitor expenses.
  • Proficiency in office software, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook Express, and PowerPoint
  • In-depth knowledge of activity-related safety regulations, as well as health and sanitation requirements.
  • Ability to document processes and perform recordkeeping.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Training, Experience, and Qualifications


  1. Must be 18 years of age.
  2. Experience in the specific area where the position will work preferred.
  3. Must be honest, trustworthy and pass a background check.
